When I asked Dr. Magalski to help me have a baby he insisted on a few tests first. I had been so diligent with my medication, exercise and diet that I had raised my ejection fraction (EF) from about 30% to 40%. Another stress echocardiogram gave us an idea of how my heart would do under the strain of pregnancy and it appeared I would do pretty well. Then I had a consultation with another cardiologist, Dr. Tracy Stevens who specializes in cardiology in women.
During all of this, Dan was deployed with the almighty Big Red One as a battle captain to Iraq for a 12 month deployment. Waiting for him to call so I could tell him that I was allowed to get pregnant felt like YEARS! We were going to have a baby!
Dan came home December 30, 2010. I found out I was pregnant April 29, 2011. Mary Ann Elizabeth Bell (MAEB) was born December 15, 2011. She was perfect.
Courage, dear heart. ~ C.S. Lewis
