Hey all! So as most of you know I started my journey with heart disease in 2008 when I found out that I was in heart failure and at risk for sudden cardiac death.  I started volunteering with the American Heart Association (AHA) shortly after.

At that time, Go Red for Women had a slogan, “I go red for _____”.  The idea was that you would fill in the blank with what motivated you to educate, advocate and fundraise to stop the #1 killer of women, heart disease. At that time mine was, “I go red for what is yet to come”. I wasn’t married and I didn’t have any children. I really had no idea what was in store for me.

I’ve moved on and so has the AHA.  They are now asking for your ‘why’.  The AHA says ‘Life is Why’. For me, Her Wedding is Why. I have a whole blog post about it you can read here but, the short if it is, Mary Ann’s wedding is why I fight.  My whole family will be there happy and healthy and it will be amazing. I fight every day to ensure I am there too.

I picked this why because I didn’t want to leave anything out.  I thought about ‘My Kids Are Why’ but that left out my sweet hubby.  I thought about ‘Family is Why’ but I have friends that are just as close. There are some days when my family has driven me so crazy that ‘Wine is Why’.I finally decided on ‘Her wedding’.

I went to an AHA meeting about a week a go and someone said that their ‘Why’ changes daily. Well duh!!! Why not change it every day! So that is what I am doing!  From now to the new year I am posting a new ‘Why’ on my Facebook and Twitter with #LifeisWhyKC and #JennasWhys. Will you join me?  Take this time around the holidays to remember why you are fighting for a healthy heart and tell the world! We have 2 weeks to the New Year!

Don’t forget to #LifeisWhyKC and follow me on twitter @jchristalini

Courage, dear heart. C.S.Lewis
